Land Reparation

Land Reparation

Oil polluted land is a major problem in all countries and the deeper it penetrates the more difficult it is to solve. Up until now it has taken many, many, months… or even years to recover to a stage when farming can resume and the underlying problem of contamination of the water table even longer.

Surface oil contamination can be treated directly by overlaying with GoSorb® (use Govercraft® #2 for bulk distribution) and once saturated, can be collected and compressed to recover the liquid oil, the residue to be used as a Biomass base. (The machinery for this process is available by special order from EnviroRep, as agents for the distributors).

Deep down oil pollution and water table reparation can only be resolved by digging out the contaminated soil. The process can sometimes involve digging to depths of 30 meters and the removal of many hundreds of tonnes of soil to be placed on protective sheets and broken down to smaller particles.

Natural cultured bacterial enzymes, Hydro-Gobbler®, is spread in a measured quantity per tonne and activated by moisture and is then turned regularly over a six to eight (6-8) week period. During this time the live bacteria devours the oil and the soil is returned to fertility. With the treated soil replaced, farming can re-commence immediately.

To further enrich the soil once treated, fertiliser generated from collected invasive vegetation, as a result of Aerobic* or Anaerobic* decomposition, can be ploughed or tilled into the fields for permanent faster, increased productivity.

GoSorb® absorbent material contains a fertiliser component, when mixed at the same time with soil and Hydro-Gobbler®, the process is considerably accelerated.

Hydro-Gobbler® harmlessly disperses in water and automatically treats the water table as it dissolves.

Deep soil removal and remediation can be arranged via EnviroRep, who work with fully equipped and experienced partners.

*Compost created by the Anaerobic or Aerobic Decomposition process can be used to enhance soil fertility, but the advantages of using the Aerobic system has a considerable cost advantage.

FOOD & ORGANIC WASTE; THE OPTIONS

Land

LANDFILL… ANAEROBIC Decomposition versus AEROBIC Decomposition. Both work well, but see below for the cost difference. For large volumes and the added advantage of free, unlimited BioGas, Anaerobic is the way forward.

FOOD & ORGANIC WASTE… using LANDFILL

The two main environmental problems we face as a result of landfills are:

Air pollution… Emissions into atmosphere
Ground pollution… Emissions into water

FOOD & ORGANIC WASTE

LANDFILL… Re; Air pollution
Toxic chemicals such as Mercury, Lead, Arsenic and PVC Gases such as Methane and Carbon Monoxide FLAMMABLE & EXPLOSIVE Decomposition of the above can take hundreds and thousands of years.

FOOD & ORGANIC WASTE LANDFILL…Re; Ground/Water Pollution

LEACHATE Apart from food and organic waste, landfill sites accept hazardous and non-hazardous wastes which produce leachate that contains many potentially polluting substances. This will get into ground water and eventually into our drinking water.

FOOD & ORGANIC WASTE …LANDFILL…Re; THE FACTS

14 million tonnes of food waste are produced every year with 6 million tonnes sent to landfill.
In the UK the cost of landfill is £86 per tonne.
For every kilo of food waste thrown in landfills, 3,800 kgs of greenhouse gases are emitted.
If food wastage were a country, it would be the third largest gas emitting country in the world!!

FOOD & ORGANIC WASTE Anaerobic decomposition.

Economic advantages: Additional income Autonomy in heat in the context of ongoing rises in the cost of fossil energies, diversification of outlets for crops, Reduction of manure purchase thanks to valorisation of digested sludge.

FOOD & ORGANIC WASTE Anaerobic decomposition.

Agronomic advantages: Transformation of the liquid manure and the manure into a fertilizer, more easily as simulated by the plants, with reduction in the odours and the disease-causing agents. Organic waste processing for competitive prices Insect elimination at the storage pit, Odour suppression.

FOOD & ORGANIC WASTE Anaerobic decomposition.

Environmental advantages: Biogas resulting by an aerobic decomposition is a source of renewable energy because it replaces fossil energy. Reduction of pollution due to nitrogen stripping, Sustainable management of organic waste

FOOD & ORGANIC WASTE Anaerobic decomposition.

Disadvantages: Requires a very high level of investment in large tanks and other process vessels.(£1.5-2m). In addition, operating expenses range from £10,000 to £40,000 annually.

Significant pre-processing of municipal waste is required to ensure smooth process operation. Treats only the organic fraction of municipal waste.
Foul odour released from exposed container vessels. Decomposites are often contaminated if treating municipal waste, leading to difficulties in usage. Requires significant pre-processing of municipal waste to ensure smooth process operation. The methane gas produced is not only highly combustible, but is one of the most potent greenhouse gasses on the planet. Gas build-up with in the system means the pressures with in make it highly explosive and a safety hazard that must be monitored closely.

Organic waste and municipal solid waste usually contain considerable amounts of different nitrogen compounds, which will inhibit the an aerobic degradation processes and cause problems in the down stream and peripheral devices. This refers particularly to the different process stages of an aerobic decomposition, to waste water treatment and to exhaust air treatment. Neither the knowledge about nitrogen problems nor the technologies for elimination of nitrogen compounds from the waste water or the exhaust air of anaerobic decomposition can be regarded as state-of-the-art. Most of the technologies in question have been barely tested for applicationin aerobic decomposition plants. The few performance data and experiences at hand are mainly derived from pilot and demonstration facilities. Please email for advice. info@envirorep.com subject line BioGas.

FOOD & ORGANIC WASTE; THE OPTIONS

Land

FOOD & ORGANIC WASTE …Aerobic decomposition… Economic advantages:

Require slow level of investment to suitall applications across avariable range of machine sizes. FREE energy from only one tonne of organic waste. Capital costs are far lower than anaerobic as decomposition occurs much faster. Produces biomass fuel in less than 24hours, to supply substantial savings in energy costs. Saves expensive disposal of organic waste into landfill. Produces richcompost with excellent cost savings.

FOOD & ORGANIC WASTE …Aerobic decomposition … Agronomic advantages:

Reduction of organic waste into a rich fertilizer, the nutrients more easily absorbed by the plants, with reduction in odours and disease-causing agents.
Cow manure can be recycled to produce excellent quality compost.
Insect and odour elimination.

FOOD & ORGANIC WASTE …Aerobic decomposition … Environmental advantages:

Bio-Gas production results in a source of renewable energy, replacing fossil energy. Reduction of pollution due to nitrogen stripping.
Sustainable management of organic waste… Promote sagreener, environmentally friendly, business, while reducing Co2 emissions and improving your carbon foot print. No reliance on costly landfill as a source of disposal.
